Lucky to be Alive!

The Remains of Svetlana's Car

We all have a tendency to take life for granted sometimes, until something happens to remind us how precious life is. Yesterday evening Svetlana came to the English Club and showed us this photo of her car. She had an accident on Saturday just as she was driving down Turuntie. She said that she was not going too fast - but that the road was icy and she suddenly lost control of the car.  It span into a 180 degree turn and hit some trees on the other side of the road. This was the result.

Svetlana has suffered cracked ribs from the crash, but amazingly nothing more serious than that. She is still in shock over the whole thing and says how much it has made her think about life - how it can be taken from us at any moment. Luckily there was no other car involved in the incident and Svetlana was alone in the car apart from her dog Daisy (who is also completely fine).

Svetlana's message to us all last night was that we need to "live for the moment" and really value each day that we have. She is completely right of course, and I said that I would pass the message on to readers of this blog.

So go out this morning, enjoy the sunshine (at least here in Somero its going to be a sunny day) and let's make the most of life while we still have it.

Our love to you Svetlana and we hope that you are feeling much better soon.

That has been quite a crash!Nice to read Svetlana is ok!That part of Turuntie is a really winding stretch of roadway - perilous in spite of the speed limit.Still, hopefully Svetlana starts driving again - so she can overcome the impact of the collision.
